March 5 (SeeNews) - Romanian retailer Profi plans to open over 200 new stores across the country by the end of this year, it said.
Profi has inaugurated 31 stores since the beginning of 2021, it said in a press release on Thursday.
The newest unit, a Profi-City store, was opened in Timisoara on Thursday. Compared to ProfiGo stores, ProfiCity units spread on a bigger area and offer more products for sale, as they are small supermarkets intended for residential areas.
With this newest opening, Profi expanded its retail network to a total of 1,433 units in 642 localities, and has over 22,000 employees.
In October, Profi opened a new warehouse in Giurgiu county which can serve up to 150 incoming large trucks and 200 outgoing distribution trucks daily.
In November 2016 Mid Europa Partners, a private equity firm focused on Central and Southeastern Europe, bought Profi Rom Food - the company that operates the Profi chain, from Polish Enterprise Fund VI for 533 million euro ($641 million).
