November 17 (SeeNews) - Romanian IT&C and electronics retailer Altex said on Wednesday it will open a new store in the western city of Resita, in Caras-Severin county, on November 18.
The 3,000 sq m store is equipped with digital signage, electronic tags and a smart lighting system which helps to save electricity, Altex said in a press release.
Altex plans to install 676 photovoltaic panels on the store's roof, following an investment of 150,000 euro ($170,400). The rooftop installation will cover some 48% of the store's monthly energy consumption.
"For this year, we have two more openings planned," Altex commercial director Edvin Abdulachim said in the statement.
In October, Altex opened a new store in Medias, in central Romania and invested 5 million euro in a new store in Bucharest. The retailer invested another 5 million euro in a smart electronic label system for its stores.
Altex employs over 4,000 in its Altex and Media Galaxy stores in Romania. It also operates two online stores.
