October 15 (SeeNews) - Romanian online retailer eMAG invested 25 million lei ($6 million/5 million euro) in its fast delivery platform Tazz over the last six months, it said on Thursday.
Capital was directed mainly towards developments in technology and infrastructure, in the expansion of the team as well as in new partnerships with restaurants and retailers, eMAG said in a press release.
Investments was also used to develop a new application for customers and for the company couriers.
"Customers need fast and safe delivery, and restaurants need partners that allow them to maintain business continuity, and we are supporting them trough a personalized approach. The last six months were intense and we tested our ability to adapt in order to become a real proximity marketplace", Tazz by eMAG CEO Alin Serban said.
The number of Tazz by eMAG partners has quadrupled since the beginning of this year, reaching 2,000. At the same time, the company estimates a tenfold increase in sales made through the platform by the end of the year.
Tazz by eMAG was established in April 2020, eight months after eMAG acquired a 54% stake in local online platform for food delivery EuCeMananc for an undisclosed sum.
Tazz by eMAG is present in big cities such as Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj, Brasov, Sibiu, Arad, Iasi, Constanta. The app includes over 2,000 restaurants and retailers.
