January 19 (SeeNews) - The disclosed value of Romania's merger and acquisition (M&A) market soared to 4.1 billion euro ($4.43 billion) last year, from 1.4 billion euro in 2021, global consultancy Deloitte said.
Taking into account transactions with a still undisclosed value, the M&A market could reach an estimated 6.5 billion - 7.5 billion euro in 2022, up from an estimated 3.5 billion - 4 billion euro in 2021, Deloitte said in a press release on Wednesday.

"Considering the evolution of the market in the second part of 2022, the regional and global market and the geo-political situation, I expect the first part of 2023 to be characterized by lower values," Deloitte Romania financial consultancy coordinator and partner Radu Dumitrescu said.
In total, 157 transactions were announced in 2022, up from 137 in the previous year, including those whose value was not officially disclosed. Deloitte's analysis did not take into account transactions worth less than 5 million euro each.
The largest transaction in 2022 was the acquisition of Exxon Mobil's 50% stake in the Black Sea offshore project Neptun Deep by Romanian natural gas producer Romgaz for a reported value of 1 billion euro. Among the biggest deals of 2022 are also the acquisition of Ford Romania by Turkey's Ford Ford Otosan for 751 million euro and the acquisition of Hella's local operations by French auto parts maker Faurecia for an estimated of 473 million euro.
Romanian real estate investment vehicle Paval Holding Properties' acquisition of Vienna-headquartered CA Immo's local portfolio of seven office buildings for 377 million euro and US-based confectionery, food, and beverage company Mondelez' takeover of Chipita Global's operations in Romania for an estimated 327 million euro are also on the top deals list, Deloitte said.
