February 28 (SeeNews) - Romania's foreign ministry on Monday issued an advisory note to Romanian citizens in Russia to consider leaving the country due to the unpredictable situation after Russia launched a military invasion of Ukraine.
Also, the ministry is advising Romanian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the Russian Federation, it said in a press release.
The ministry added it is making these recommendations due to the closure of Romanian airspace for Russian companies, as well as due to the regional security situation, which remains "extremely tense and unpredictable".
Romanian citizens wishing to leave Russia can do so on regular flights via Turkey and the United Arab Emirates or by road through Estonia.
As of Saturday, aircraft belonging to Russian companies are not be allowed to fly over or land in Romanian territory.
On Sunday, the EU prohibited all Russian-owned, Russian registered or Russian-controlled aircraft to land in, take off or overfly its territory.
