January 17 (SeeNews) - Romanian CEOs are more confident about their national
economy than the global economy, with 62% expecting a local slowdown and 75% anticipating a global decline, according to the results of a survey conducted by global consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Most Romanian CEOs (75%) expect the global economy to shrink in 2023, PwC said in a press release on Tuesday.
The response reflects the most pessimistic view of executives in the past 12 years.
On a global level, 73% of business executives expect the world economy to fall. This year's survey shows a reversed perception, when compared to the previous two years. In 2021 and 2022, 76% and 77% of business leaders believed that the global economy would improve its growth rate.
Twenty-seven percent of Romanian CEOs believe that their businesses will no longer be economically viable in ten years time if current conditions continue, lower than the survey average of 40%.
Romanian executives perceive inflation as the main risk to business
development (48%), followed by geopolitical conflict (42%) and macroeconomic volatility (38%).
PwC interviewed more than 4,400 CEOs for its 26th Annual Global CEO Survey.
