September 2 (SeeNews) - The foreign exchange reserves held by Romania's central bank, excluding gold, totalled 35.619 billion euro ($39.042 billion) at the end of August, up from 35.473 billion euro a month earlier, the central bank said on Monday.
Foreign exchange inflows amounted to 615 million euro worth of inflows representing representing changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves, inflows into the finance ministry accounts, inflows into the European Commission’s account, and other.
Foreign exchange outflows totalled 469 million euro worth of outflows representing changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves, interest payments and principal repayments on foreign currency public debt, and other.
The gold reserves of the central bank remained unchanged at 103.7 tonnes and were worth 4.606 billion euro at current international prices at the end of August.
The international reserves of Romania, including foreign currencies and gold, totalled 40.225 billion euro as of end-August, up from 39.753 billion euro a month earlier.
Romania will have to pay approximately 176 million euro on its public and publicly guaranteed foreign currency-denominated debt in September.
