August 24 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian banks' outstanding loans to the non-government sector rose 1.8% year-on-year to 216.1 billion lei ($55 billion/49 billion euro) at end-July, speeding from a 1.2% growth in June, the country's central bank, BNR, said on Wednesday.
Private lending in lei was up 15.7% on the year to 119.5 billion lei in July, decelerating from a 16.2% advance in June, BNR said in a statement.
Private lending in foreign currency fell 11.4% to 96.5 billion lei, after a 12.5% decline in June.
