BUCHAREST (Romania), July 11 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition authority said on Thursday that it has approved the takeover of waterproofing systems manufacturer Arcon Membrane by Sika Romania.
"Following a review of the transaction, the Competition Council found that it does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition in the market, in particular by establishing or strengthening of a dominant position," the anti-trust body said in a statement.
Sika Romania is part of Switzerland-based Sika Group, which manufactures construction materials such as concrete, waterproofing systems, coating systems, floor systems, gluing and sealing systems and provides refurbishment services.
Sika Group has been present in Romania since 2002 and has two production units, in Brasov and Cluj, as well as a national logistics network consisting of warehouses and sales points.
Arcon Membrane is a Romanian provider of waterproofing materials founded in 1994. Arcon is based in Sfantu-Gheorghe, 200 km north of Bucharest and owns two fully automated facilities where it produces bituminous membranes.
