April 20 (SeeNews) - Romania's agriculture ministry said that it will start sealing off the trucks that transit Romania carrying Ukrainian grain to protect local farmers from the inflow of cheaper grain and oilseed from Ukraine.
Romanian authorities will also intensify the monitoring and control of trucks carrying agri-food products, the ministry said in a press release on Wednesday, following an online discussion between Romanian agriculture minister, Petre Daea, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Mikola Solski.

Romania has not yet restricted the import of of cereals and oilseed from Ukraine, but Daea requested Solski to quickly identify solutions for restricting the inflow of Ukrainian crops that hamper. The two ministers will meet in person in Bucharest on April 21, to quickly implement the best solutions for both countries.
On Wednesday, the caretaker government of Bulgaria said that it decided to introduce a two-month ban on the imports of over 20 goods from Ukraine, including cereals, honey and milk products. The decision was taken in response to serious difficulties arising for local agricultural producers as a result of the so-called solidarity corridors launched by the EU in aid of Ukraine's economy following the Russian invasion, the Bulgarian government said.
