July 18 (SeeNews) - Romania's production of sunflower seed, rapeseed and maize is expected to increase in 2017 compared to the previous year, while wheat and barley output is forecast to drop, the European Commission's agriculture directorate has said.
Romania's 2017 sunflower seed output will be 15.3% higher year-on-year, while yield is expected to increase by 12.8% year-on-year to 2.2 tonnes per hectare, the Commission's Agriculture and Rural Development Directorate said in a report last week.

Romania's rapeseed output is expected to increase by 12% in 2017, but yield is expected to drop by 5.2% to 2.7 tonnes per hectare.
The country is expected to produce 10.39 million tonnes of maize in 2017, up by 16.8% compared to the previous year. Maize yield is seen 22.7% higher at 4.3 tonnes per hectare in 2017.
Wheat production in Romania is expected to drop by an annual 2.4% this year, while yield is forecast to rise 4.7% to 4.1 tonnes per hectare.
Romania's barley output os expected to be 9% lower on the year in 2017, while yield will edge up 0.3% to 3.8 tonnes per hectare.
