BUCHAREST (Romania), October 31 (SeeNews) – The power grid operators of Serbia and Romania, Elektromreza Srbije and Transelectrica [BSE:TEL], signed an agreement on the construction of a power interconnection line, Transelectrica said on Monday.
The construction cost of the Romanian part of the line is estimated at 41.3 million euro ($57.8 million), Transelectrica said in a statement.
The 400-kilovolt line, which will link Romania’s Resita and the Serbian town of Pancevo, will have a total length of 171 kilometres, of which 63 kiliometres will be in Romania.
"The Resita-Pancevo project aims to increase power exchange between the Romanian and Serbian systems," Transelectrica said.
Transelectrica proposed October-November 2012 as a deadline for selecting a general contractor on the project.
The companies plan to put the line into exploitation in July 2015.
