November 5 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists in Romania in September rose by 11.4% on the year to 623,700, and overnights increased by 7.2% to some 1.88 million, the country's statistics board (INS) said on Monday.

In the first nine months of 2007 the number of tourists staying in Romania grew by 12.6% on the year to more than 5.418 million. Overnights increased by 8.7% to almost 16.472 million.
In 2006 Romania attracted 6.2 million tourists, 7.1% more than in 2005. The number of overnights they spent in the country increased by 3.4% to 18.9 million.
