BUCHAREST (Romania), October 21 (SeeNews) - Romania sold on Thursday 1.16 billion lei ($273 million/235 million euro) worth of Treasury bonds maturing on June 24, 2026, way above initial target, central bank data showed.

The average accepted yield was 4.48%, compared to 3.51% achieved at the previous auction of government securities of the same issue held in September, the data indicated.

Demand for the T-notes, which carry an annual coupon of 3.25%, jumped to 1.56 billion lei from 770 million lei at the previous auction.

The issue will be reopened on Friday, when the finance ministry hopes to raise 00 million lei in a non-competitive tender.

Romania's finance ministry intends to sell 5.6 billion lei worth of government securities in October, including 630 million lei in non-competitive offers.

Year-to date, the finance ministry has sold government bills and bonds worth 42 billion lei and 1.6 billion euro ($1.9 billion) and has tapped foreign markets for 7 billion euro worth of 2030, 2033 and 2041 Eurobonds.
