March 2 (SeeNews) - Romania sold a total 1.496 billion lei ($322.7 million/304 million euro) worth of government securities maturing in 2025 and 2036, central bank data showed.
The finance ministry sold 665.5 million lei worth of Treasury bonds maturing on April 28, 2036, above the 400 million lei target, central bank data showed on Thursday.
The average accepted yield was 7.99%, compared to 7.43% achieved in the previous auction of securities of the same issue held in February. The issue will be reopened on Monday, when the finance ministry hopes to raise 65 million lei in a non-competitive tender.
Also on Thursday, Romania sold 317 million lei worth of Treasury notes maturing on July 28, 2025, below its 400 million lei target.
The average accepted yield was 7.27%, compared to 3.08% achieved in the previous auction of government securities of the same issue held in November 2020. Demand for the T-notes, which carry an annual coupon of 3.65%, dropped to 372 million lei from 2.93 billion lei in the previous auction.
The issue will also be reopened on March 6, when the finance ministry expects to raise an additional 60 million lei in a non-competitive offer.
On Monday, Romania sold an additional 439.3 million lei worth of Treasury bills maturing on November 25, 2025, below its 500 million lei target.
The average accepted yield was 7.21%, up from 7.1% achieved in the previous auction of government securities of the same issue held in January. Demand for the T-bills, which carry an annual coupon of 3.5%, dropped to 529.3 million lei from 4.826 billion lei in the previous auction. The issue was reopened on Thursday, when the finance ministry sold an additional 75 million lei worth of T-bills.
