BUCHAREST (Romania), October 7 (SeeNews) – Romania posted the sharpest monthly rise in retail trade volume among European Union member states in August, the bloc's statistics office reported.
In Romania, the volume of retail trade rose by a monthly 5.2% in August, Eurostat said in a statement posted on its website. Lithuania posted the bloc's second biggest increase of 1.3%.
Retail trade volume in the EU fell by 0.3% month-on-month but was up 0.8% on the year in August.

Romania joined the EU together with Bulgaria in January 2007. Slovenia joined the bloc in 2004 and entered the eurozone in 2007.
