SOFIA (Bulgaria), February 21 (SeeNews) - Romania reported the second-highest annual inflation rate among EU member states in January, after Hungary, the bloc's statistical office said on Friday. 

Romania's annual inflation rate was 3.9% in the first month of 2020, slightly down from 4.0% in the previous month, Eurostat said in a statement.

Among the other EU member states in Southeast Europe, Bulgaria and Slovenia had annual inflation rates of 3.4% and 2.3%, respectively, in January - above the EU average of 1.7%.

Croatia's inflation was also above the EU average, at 1.8%, while Greece's inflation was below average at 1.1%.
