February 19 (SeeNews) - Romania posted the sharpest year-on-year increase, by 23.1%, in construction production among EU member states for which data is available in December, the bloc’s statistical office said on Wednesday.
However, the percentage is gradually shrinking - Romania had the highest increase in construction output among EU member states in November, of 24.0%, after reporting a 24.6% rise in October.
Slovenia reported the third-highest annual increase, along with Sweden, as its construction output grew by 2.9%, Eurostat said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Romania's construction output fell 1.8%, while Slovenia posted a monthly decrease of 2.0%.
Elsewhere in Southeastern Europe (SEE), Bulgaria's construction production dropped 0.8% both on an annual and on a monthly comparison basis.
Data for Croatia and Greece was unavailable for December.
On average, construction output in the EU decreased by 0.5% on the year and by 2.1% month-on-month.
