July 29 (SeeNews) - Romania ranks highest in terms of direct air transport connectivity among countries in Southeast Europe, the Airport Council International (ACI) Europe said in a new report.
With a score of 1,688 points, Romania is leader among SEE countries, followed by Croatia with 1,401, according to the Airport Industry Connectivity Report 2019 published on the website of ACI Europe.
The direct connectivity score covers the direct air services available from airports, measured not just in terms of destinations, but also in terms of frequency.
Bulgaria ranks third among SEE countries with 979 points, while Serbia is fourth with 632, the report shows. Montenegro scores 295, while Moldova and Albania have 281 and 255 points, respectively.
At the bottom of the ranking, Slovenia has 248 points, followed by North Macedonia with 186. Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks last among 43 European countries with 115 points.
Moldova posted the best improvement in its score, of 149.2%, in the period between 2009 and 2019, followed by Croatia with 104.9% and North Macedonia with 97.3%.
Brussels-based ACI Europe represents the interests of over 500 airports in 45 European countries.
