February 28 (SeeNews) - Romania's interior ministry said on Friday that it has confirmed two new cases of the coronavirus infection in the country, which bring the total number to three.
The first of the two new cases is a man from the northern county of Maramures who had recently travelled to Italy, Raed Arafat, head of the emergency department within the interior ministry, said in a televised statement on Digi24.
The man was taken to Cluj county hospital with a respiratory failure on Thursday but on Friday his general health condition has improved, Arafat said.
The second case is a woman in the western city of Timisoara who had also travelled to Italy recently. Her condition is good, according to the statement.
On Thursday, the health ministry announced that the first case of the coronavirus infection in the country has been confirmed in the southeastern county of Gorj. The young man who was tested positive for the virus, was isolated in a Bucharest hospital and his condition is good, according to the latest data from the health ministry.
The man was in contact with an Italian who visited Romania last week and who later tested positive for the new virus.
As of Thursday, 99 people were in quarantine in Romania, while the condition of 5,667 people staying at home was being monitored, according to health ministry data.
