February 11 (SeeNews) - Romania's public roads authority, CNADNR, said on Wednesday it has awarded two contracts worth a combined 8 million lei ($2 million/1.8 million euro) for supervision of the design and construction of a motorway stretch in the central part of the country.
One contract, worth 3.98 million lei, was awarded to a consortium of Tecnic Consulting Engineering Romania and Egis Romania for lot 3 of the motorway linking Sebes to Turda, CNADNR said in a statement posted on its website.
The second contract, with a similar value, was awarded to a consortium of Italy's Spea Ingineria Europea and Tecnic Consulting Engineering Romania for lot 4 of the same motorway.
The contracts, with a duration of 74 months, are 85%-financed by EU-funded Cohesion fund, with the remaining coming from the state budget. Their value does not include value-added tax.
Also on Wednesday, CNADNR announced it has awarded a 29.1 million lei deal to a consortium of Spea Ingineria Europea and Tecnic Consulting Engineering Romania to prepare a feasibility study for the construction of a key motorway stretch. The 120 km motorway section will link the southern city of Pitesti to Sibiu, in central Romania.
Romania, with an area of some 238,400 sq km and a population of 20.1 million, has a network of motorways of just around 700 km.
