March 21 (SeeNews) - Romania's new car registrations marked the highest annual increase in the EU in February, at 44.5%, reaching 12,449, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said on Tuesday.
In the EU as a whole, new passenger car registrations rose by 11.5% on the year to 802,763 in the review month, ACEA said in a press release. Slovenia was the only country among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE) to register a decline, as its total new registrations went down by 1.1% to 3,770.

At 208%, Croatia posted the biggest annual growth in battery electric vehicle (EV) sales in the EU, reaching 154 units. In comparison, Bulgaria recorded the lowest rise among EU states in SEE, at 60.8%, to 82 units.
EU-wide, registrations of battery EVs jumped by 39.7% year-on-year to 97,300 in February, while their market share went up by 2.4 percentage points to 12.1%.
Petrol cars held the largest share of the new cars market, at 36.9%, with Romania recording the highest rise in sales in the EU, at 39.1%, reaching 4,957.
