October 14 (SeeNews) - The number of refugees who had sought protection in Bulgaria in the first nine months of 2016, fell 30% year-on-year to 14,280, the country's refugee agency said on Friday.
Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria were the top three countries of origin of the people who had sought protection over the review period, Bulgaria's State Agency of Refugees said.
In September alone, 2,076 refugees sought protection In the country.
Out of the total number of refugees who sought protection in 2016 through September, 57% were men, 32% were women 11% were children.
Only 4% of those migrants have higher education, while 22% have no education at all, the agency said.
