PODGORICA (Montenegro), May 11 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's government said on Thursday the process of ratification of its NATO accession protocol has been successfully completed after Spain ratified the document the day before.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will send a letter of invitation to Montenegro to join the alliance on June 1, when the ratification by the Netherlands will enter into force, the government said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Montenegro's prime minister Dusko Markovic said the country will be officially admitted to NATO on June 5 and will be presented as a member state during the summit of the Alliance on May 25.
