SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 7 (SeeNews) – Cybercrimes accounted for 24% of all economic crimes committed in Bulgaria in 2016, compared to 10% in 2014, local hosting company ICN.bg said on Tuesday.
Business E-Mail Compromise was the most common type of cyberattack in Bulgaria, ICN.bg said in a statement, quoting data from the country's Directorate General for Combatting Organized Crime.
Among the other common threats in Bulgaria were cryptoviruses, which encrypt files on the infected device and demand a ransom for their decryption.
According to recent forecasts, losses for the global economy caused by cybercrimes will double to $6 trillion (5.2 trillion euro) in 2021, from $3 trillion in 2015.
