SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 24 (SeeNews) - Qatar Airways has postponed the scheduled launch of direct flights between Bosnia's capital Sarajevo and Doha for 2017, a Sarajevo Airport spokesperson said on Wednesday.
According to official information received from Qatar Airways, the planned launch is being prolonged due to a delay in aircraft delivery, the spokesperson said in an emailed response to a SeeNews inquiry.
In March this year, Qatar Airways announced Sarajevo as the new addition to its network via its official Twitter page.
The news was proceeded by a meeting between Bosnia’s foreign affairs ministry and Qatari economy minister Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani who discussed establishing a direct link between the capitals to facilitate the the expansion of economic bilateral relations.
In 2015, passenger traffic at Bosnia’s Sarajevo international airport increased by 9% to 773,000.
