March 18 (SeeNews) - Pirelli Tyres Romania, a subsidiary of Italy's Pirelli Group, said on Wednesday it has decided to suspend production at its plant in Romania due to the spread on the COVID-19 disease and poor demand.
The factory based in Slatina, Olt county, will halt production between March 23-31, Pirelli Romania said in a press release.

Production will resume with the smallest number of employees in order to guarantee protection for employees while still ensuring the supply of requested products, the company added.
The Pirelli Group entered Romania in 2004 when it established its subsidiary Pirelli Tyres Romania. The construction of the production plant, a greenfield investment, began in 2005 and the first tyres were manufactured in 2006. The plant employs 4,000.
Earlier on Wednesday, Romanian car maker Automobile Dacia, a unit of France's Renault, announced it will temporarily halt production at its Mioveni manufacturing plant in Arges county because of the coronavirus epidemic.
For the same reason on Tuesday the Romanian unit of U.S. car maker Ford Motor Company said that it will temporarily halt production at its plant in Craiova starting March 19 and its employees will be sent in technological unemployment.
