January 27 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian-founded payment management platform Payhawk opened a new office for 300 employees in Bulgaria's capital Sofia as it plans to increase its focus on the local market in 2023, Ivan Komitov, marketing operations manager at the company, told SeeNews on Friday.
The fintech intends to create a new sales and advertising department targeting the Bulgarian market this year, Komitov said in response to a SeeNews query.
In line with the plans, a local website will be launched in the next few months.
Payhawk previously disclosed plans to create 120 jobs, of which 65 in Sofia.
Founded in 2018, the company has developed a subscription-based, enterprise-grade software that combines expense management, payments and invoice management in a single platform.
In 2022, the fintech became Bulgaria's first unicorn when it reached a valuation of $1 billion (919 million euro) after closing an extended funding round led by US investment firm Lightspeed Venture Partners.
