ZAGREB (Croatia), January 9 (SeeNews) – Passenger numbers at Croatia's Split Airport rose to 3.3 million last year, from 3.1 million in 2018, the airport operator said.
In December alone, the airport handled 41,357 passengers, down 6.2% on the year and 9.8% lower on the month, according to figures published on the website of Split Airport.
Over the last seven years - 2013 through 2019 - Split Airport welcomed a total of 16,823,951 passengers.
In 2018, passenger traffic at the airport of Croatia's second-largest city rose 10.85% year-on-year to 3,124,067.
Earlier this month, the tourism ministry said that tourist arrivals to Split rose by 9% last year, reaching 944,000. Tourism is a key driver for the economy of the Adriatic state of some 4.1 million people, contributing some 20% of GDP.
