January 18 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at Bulgaria's coastal airports of Varna and Burgas dropped by 78.9% to some 1.05 million in 2020, Germany's Fraport Group said on Monday.
Passenger traffic at the busier Varna Airport fell 70.1% to 622,215, while passengers at Burgas Airport decreased by 85.3% to 424,252 in 2020, Fraport Group said in a statement.
Aircraft movements slid 69.1% to 10,960 last year.
Cargo handled at the two airports dropped 19.2% to 3,934 t.
In December alone, passenger traffic at the two airports fell 69.7% to 27,948.
Burgas and Varna airports are run by Fraport Twin Star Airport Management under a 35-year concession contract awarded in 2006. Fraport Twin Star Airport Management is a 60/40 joint venture of Fraport and Bulgarian company BM Star.
