May 6 (SeeNews) - Combined passenger numbers at the two international airports of Romania's capital Bucharest increased 8.5% year-on-year to 2.99 million in the first three months of 2019, the operator of the airports said on Monday.
Aircraft movements increased by 4% on the year to 32,098 in the three months through March, the Bucharest Airports National Company, CNAB, said in a statement.
CNAB operates Bucharest's main airport, Henri Coanda, and a smaller one, Aurel Vlaicu.
Passenger numbers at Henri Coanda International Airport rose 8.5% to 2,990,429 passengers in the first quarter, while aircraft movements increased by 3.6% to 27,029. A total of 57 airlines currently operate at the airport, transporting passengers to more than 128 destinations.
Passenger numbers at Aurel Vlaicu airport increased 49% to 6,149 in the first quarter of 2019, while aircraft movements surged 89.1% to 5,019.
Combined passenger traffic at the two international airports of Bucharest rose 8% to 13.85 million passengers last year.
