April 14 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at Antalya Airport, on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, jumped by 82.5% to 2.1 million in the first three months of 2022 from 1.1 million in the same period a year earlier, Germany's Fraport Group, which operates the airport, said.
Aircraft movements rose 77% on the year in the January-March period to 15,521, Fraport Group said in a statement on Wednesday.
Data about cargo handled in the review period was not provided.
The airports in Fraport’s international portfolio largely sustained their rebound in March. Most of the group's airports achieved significant traffic gains in March, with some even recording growth rates of over 100% year-on-year, albeit compared to strongly reduced traffic levels in March 2021, Fraport noted.
In Southeast Europe, Fraport operates airports in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana and the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
