SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), December 5 (SeeNews) – Passenger numbers at Bosnia's Tuzla International Airport increased to 458,224 in the first ten months of 2017 from 269,718 in the same period last year, according to data from the airport operator.
In October alone, passenger traffic jumped 86.7% on the year, but fell 2.4% on the month, reaching 51,556, figures posted on the website of Tuzla airport show.
Over the past six years, up until the end of October, Tuzla airport welcomed 1,250,081 passengers in total. In 2016, passenger traffic increased 20% to 311,398.
In March, Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air deployed a second aircraft at its base in Tuzla to operate five new routes. It, however, recently cancelled two routes, to London Luton and Germany's Nuremberg.
The company handled some 310,000 passengers from and to Tuzla in 2016, supporting around 230 local jobs.
