March 31 (SeeNews) - The share of Serbian households with access to high-speed fixed Internet will increase to over 99%, telecommunications minister Mihailo Jovanovic said.
“We continue to digitize Serbia and in December last year we started a capital investment project to develop broadband communication infrastructure in rural areas,” Jovanovic said at the Technobank conference in Belgrade earlier this week, according to a press release issued by the telecommunications ministry.
In December 2022, Serbia launched a project worth 500 million euro ($545 million) to build broadband infrastructure in the country's rural areas.
The share of Serbian households with access to the Internet stood at 83.2% at the end of February 2022, according to data from the national office for statistics.
