October 25 (SeeNews) - Orange Romania said on Thursday its revenues rose 3.5% year-on-year to 287 million euro ($328 million) in the third quarter, driven by growth of fixed-mobile services and higher mobile data consumption.
Mobile Internet traffic surged by 80% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2018 supported by an increase in smartphone sales and by investments in 4G and 4G+ networks, Orange Romania, a unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange, said in an interim financial report.
The operator's 4G network covers 95.9% of Romania's population.
TV services provided by Orange Romania had 476,000 customers at the end of September, a 12.9% increase year-on-year. Fixed broadband services had 260,000 customers at the end of the third quarter, up 67% on the year.
"The confidence of our customers is reflected in the performance of this quarter, in the steady growth of our Love offer's fixed-mobile sales, and in adopting other Orange solutions that support a dynamic lifestyle tailored to the needs of each customer," Orange Romania CEO, Liudmila Climoc, said.
Orange Romania had 10.9 million customers at the end of September, up from 10.623 million at the end of 2017.
Orange Romania revenues increased by 8% last year relative to 2016, reaching 1.07 billion euro due to increased use of mobile data and higher sales of fixed-mobile packages and mobile equipment.
Romania’s market of just over 20 million people is served by five mobile operators - Orange Romania; Telekom Romania, former Cosmote Romania; RCS&RDS; Vodafone Romania; and insolvent 2K Telecom.
