July 28 (SeeNews) - Orange Romania, the local unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange, said on Tuesday its revenues rose by an annual 6.4% to 232.8 million euro ($258 million) in the second quarter of 2015, on a comparable basis.
First-half revenues totalled 453.9 million euro, versus 448 million euro a year earlier, Orange Romania said in a statement.
In the first quarter of the year, the operator recorded a 3.7% drop in revenues to 221 million euro.
Orange Romania had 10.205 million clients at the end of June, down from 10.365 million clients at the end of March, including 600,000 4G clients.
Mobile Internet traffic jumped 112% on the year and sales of 4G tablets and 4G smartphones jumped 4.5 times and three times, respectively, Orange Romania said.
The operator also said its 4G network covers 95% of urban population and 67% of all population.
In a separate statement, Orange Group said the average revenue per user (ARPU) in Romania was 6.2 euro per month in the second quarter, up from 6.0 euro in the previous quarter but down from 6.4 euro in the second quarter of 2014.
Romania’s market of just over 20 million is served by a total of five mobile operators - Orange Romania; Telekom Romania, former Cosmote Romania; RCS&RDS; Vodafone Romania; and 2K Telecom.
