May 10 (SeeNews) - Romania's top oil and gas group OMV Petrom [BSE:SNP] said on Monday that together with Renovatio it will install at least 40 fast and ultra-fast recharging stations in the country by the end of 2022.
The stations will be installed in OMV and Petrom filling stations the group said in a press release.
"Lately, we see that more and more Romanians are opting for electric and hybrid vehicles. Even though the number of these vehicles in Romania is currently low, the prospects are for electric mobility to become a mainstream option, especially over short distances. And we are preparing to provide in the coming years the necessary infrastructure for various mobility options," OMV Petrom executive board member Radu Caprau said.
All locations will have at least one recharging station with a minimum power of 50kW, and at least 20 of them will have recharging stations with an installed capacity of 350 kW. The latter will form the largest network of ultra-fast charging stations in Romania.
Shares in blue-chip OMV Petrom traded 1.73% higher at 0.47 lei ($0.12/ 0.10 euro) by 1420 CET on the BVB on Monday.
Renovatio operates more than 270 EV charging points in Romania, out of which 120 offer fast and ultra-fast charging.
