May 21 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Albania fell by 97% on the year in April, to 12,188, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Albania attracted a total of 585,911 foreign tourists in the first four months of 2020, down 47% compared with the same period in 2019, the statistical office said in a statement.
In April, the number of domestic tourists decreased by 97% on the year to 13,069.
Overall, the number of domestic and foreign tourists in Albania plunged 97% year-on-year to 25,257 in April.
In April, Albania attracted 4,734 visitors from Kosovo, 2,475 from North Macedonia and 1,871 from Montenegro.
Albania confirmed its two coronavirus cases in early March. Later that month, the country closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights in an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
The number of confirmed cases has reached 969 as of Thursday, Albanian Daily News reported.
