March 18 (SeeNews) - Slovenian health minister Tomaz Gantar said that the number of infected by the coronavirus in the country is probably five times the 275 confirmed cases.
"The health system is not dimensioned for the circumstances we are now facing. We need measures, and organisational changes, to be able to manage the current problems," Gantar told a news conference on Tuesday, as seen in a video file on the government's website.
Gantar stressed that everyone should behave as if they are already infected, otherwise more restrictions will be needed.
One person has died from the disease in Slovenia.
On Thursday, Slovenia declared a state of emergency because of the coronavirus spread in the country, closing down schools, kindergartens, border crossings and public transport. In addition, all passenger flights in the country have been cancelled as of midnight on Monday.
The first confirmed coronavirus case in Slovenia was reported on March 4.
