SKOPJE (North Macedonia), April 7 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's trade deficit rose to a total of 20.56 billion denars ($362.1 million/331.9 million euro) in January and February, from 18.5 billion denars in the same period of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Exports increased 3.4% on the year to 60.2 billion denars in the January-February period, while imports grew 5% to 80.73 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonian exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, as well as parts of the seats and motor vehicles for the transport of 10 or more persons.
The country predominantly imported metals of the platinum group and alloys, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals and flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, plated or coated.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in January and February were Germany, the UK, China, Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria.
