October 27 (SeeNews) - A tender for the construction of a 34 million euro ($39.5 million) airport near Albania's southern coastal town of Saranda attracted no bidders, local media reported.
Thus, Albania cancelled the tender for offers for the construction of the new airport, news portal Exit reported on Tuesday.
Earlier in October, Albania extended again the deadline for submitting bids in the tender to October 14 from October 4. The original deadline of September 23 was first extended to October 4.
In April, Albania inaugurated its second international airport located in the northeastern city of Kukes. Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa is the only other operating international airport in the country.
