December 21 (SeeNews) - NIS [BEL:NIIS] was the most traded blue chip on the Belgrade bourse on Wednesday, as 3,280 shares in the oil and gas company changed hands, as share indices rose.
NIS also generated the highest trading turnover among the blue-chip companies, of 2.4 million dinars.
The blue-chip BELEX15 index, which tracks the most liquid shares on the Belgrade bourse, added 0.74% to 722.20 points. On Tuesday, the index edged down 0.20% to 716.91.
The broader BELEXline, a free‐float market capitalisation weighted index, rose by 0.58% to 1,577.58 on Wednesday, after closing in the red in the previous five sessions. The index reached an all-time high of 1,589.21 on December 13. On Tuesday, it lost 0.14% to 1,568.54.
Civil engineering group Energoprojekt Holding [BEL:ENHL] and cookware maker Metalac [BEL:MTLC] led the blue-chip gainers on Wednesday, rising 2.56% each to 1,441 dinars and 1,684 dinars, respectively.
Agricultural chemicals producer Galenika Fitofarmacija [BEL:FITO] paced the blue-chip decliners, shedding 1.09% to 2,720 dinars, as 25 shares changed hands.
Trading in shares generated 15.5 million dinars ($130,925/125,328 euro) of turnover on Wednesday versus 18 million dinars on Tuesday.
