BELGRADE (Serbia), September 5 (SeeNews) – Serbia's Nis airport said it serviced 251,202 passengers in the first eight months of 2019, up 6% year-on-year.
The number of takeoffs and landings at Nis airport fell to 2,112 in the first eight months of 2019 from 1,921 in the prior-year period, whereas cargo volume grew to 776.4 tonnes from 423.9 tonnes, figures posted on the website of the Konstantin Veliki Airport in Nis show.
In August alone, the airport handled 49,898 passengers, up 61%, while the number of takeoffs and landings totalled 456, up from 259 in August 2018. A total of 9.9 tonnes of cargo were processed at the airport in August 2019, versus 13.7 tonnes in August 2018.
Nis airport handled 351,581 passengers in 2018, down 6%, while the number of aircraft movements fell 4% to 1,417.
In May, flag carrier Air Serbia started the sale of tickets for subsidised services on 12 international destinations from the Konstantin Veliki Airport. The first subsidised flights took off from July 15.
