June 7 (SeeNews) - Sales of new passenger cars in Croatia rose 6.0% on the month to 9,149 in May after jumping a monthly 71% in April, market research agency Promocija Plus said.
Renault was the top-selling brand in the country of some 4.2 million people with 1,186 cars sold in May, up from 1,161 cars a month earlier, Promocija Plus said in a statement earlier this week.
Opel was the runner-up with 1,163 cars sold in May, up from 1,149 in April, while Volkswagen ranked third with 909, up from 804 a month earlier.
Thus, Renault and Opel have overtaken Volkswagen in the past two month, even though for the January-May period the latter remains on top with a total of 3,738 cars sold versus 3,418 for Renault and 2,883 for Opel.
The best-selling car models in Croatia in May were Renault Clio with 538 units, followed by Fiat 500 with 408 and Opel Corsa with 396.
