October 3 (SeeNews) - Net inflow of foreign direct investments to Croatia reached 812 million euro ($794 million) in the second quarter of this year, up from 395 million euro in the same period of last year, central bank figures showed.
“A noticeable net inflow of foreign direct investments seen in the second quarter of 2022 was primarily a result of new equity investments in Croatia, which were significantly higher than in the same period of the preceding year, and were mostly linked to the automotive industry and the real estate sector,” the central bank said in a statement on Friday.
Increased debt liabilities to affiliated enterprises abroad and the retained earnings of banks and enterprises in foreign ownership also contributed to the net inflow of foreign direct investments, although to a slightly smaller extent, it added.
The net inflow of FDI equalled 5.8% of the country's estimated GDP in the second quarter of this year.
