February 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's net foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow in 2019 rose by an annual 17.3% to 629.9 million euro ($680 million), the central bank said on Wednesday.
The net FDI inflow last year, calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1% of the central bank's forecast for Bulgaria's gross domestic product for 2019, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest FDI inflow came from investments in debt instruments, and amounted to 947.8 million euro. This offset a 399.1 million euro outflow of foreign direct investment in equity.
The largest positive net direct investment inflow in Bulgaria in the review period of 2019, of 404.2 million euro, came from the Netherlands. The U.K. and Luxembourg followed with 173.8 million euro and 142.2 million euro, respectively.
