October 16 (SeeNews) - The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria dropped by an annual 63.5% to 365.9 million euro ($428.7 million) in the eight months through August, the central bank said on Friday.
The net FDI inflow in the January-August period calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 0.6% of the central bank's forecast for Bulgaria's gross domestic product for this year, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest net direct investment inflow into Bulgaria in the review period came from the Netherlands - of 407.2 million euro. Russia and Hungary followed with 119.6 million euro and 107.2 million euro, respectively.
In August alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI outflow of 29.7 million euro compared to an inflow of 90.4 million euro in the same month of 2019.
