September 17 (SeeNews) - The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria declined by 63.7% on the year to 630.4 million euro ($742.6 million) in the seven months through July, the central bank said on Friday.
The net FDI inflow in the January-July period, calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1% of Bulgaria's 2021 forecast gross domestic product, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest net FDI inflow into Bulgaria in the review period, of 457.9 million euro, originated in Luxembourg, followed by the Netherlands with 253.8 million euro and Germany with 120.4 million euro. The largest net FDI outflows - of 238.5 million euro and 160.6 million euro, respectively - were directed to the Czech republic and Switzerland.
In July alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI inflow of 170.5 million euro, down from 978.6 million euro inflow in the same month of last year.
