November 18 (SeeNews) - The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria went down by 61.3% year-on-year to 852.6 million euro ($966.2 million) in the nine months through September, the central bank said on Thursday.
The net FDI inflow in the January-September period, calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1.3% of Bulgaria's 2021 forecast gross domestic product, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest net FDI inflow into Bulgaria in the review period, of 367.1 million euro, originated in Luxembourg, followed by Germany with 256.5 million euro and Austria with 147.4 million euro. The largest net FDI outflow, of 233.2 million euro, was directed to Russia.
In September alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI inflow of 159.9 million euro, down from 175.9 million euro inflow in the same month of 2020.
