July 19 (SeeNews) - The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria grew to some 871.2 million euro ($893.7 million) in the first five months of 2022 from 313.9 million euro in the comparable period of last year, the central bank said on Tuesday.
The net FDI inflow from January to May, calculated according to the directional principle, was equivalent to 1.1% of Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) projected for 2022, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
During the month of May, direct investment flow from abroad into Bulgaria amounted to 32.9 million euro compared to 117.1 million euro in May 2021.
The Netherlands contributed to the largest net FDI inflow into Bulgaria in the review period, of 533 million euro, followed by Belgium and Austria, with 180.2 million euro and 114.3 million euro, respectively.
Conversely, the largest net outflows were registered to Luxembourg, of 54 million euro, and to Germany, of 50.3 million euro, central bank data showed.
